Brass luminaires in a cosy ambience.
mawa sets an example for high-quality restaurant lighting on the ground floor of Düsseldorf’s 5-star Hotel Breidenbacher Hof. After extensive renovation, the reopened restaurant ‘The Duchy’ has been shining in new splendour since June 2020 – and with a sophisticated lighting concept that combines atmosphere and functionality.
The focus is on customised restaurant lighting with luminaires from the wittenberg 4.0 series, specially designed for the project in shiny brass. The recessed luminaires blend harmoniously into the elegant interior made of wood, warm colours and fine fabrics and specifically emphasise the furniture and works of art.

A total of 100 light points were installed, including 15 recessed housings in special dimensions in order to utilise existing ceiling openings unchanged – an elegant compromise between technical planning and design requirements. An additional decorative step lends the brass housings a subtle sophistication and emphasises the high quality standards of this restaurant lighting.
Thanks to the swivelling light heads, the illumination is flexible – ideal for changing works of art, table arrangements or special accents in the dining room. The result is a lighting concept that perfectly picks up on the name ‘The Duchy’ as a reminiscence of the historic duchy in Düsseldorf and puts culinary delights in the right light.

In terms of style and name, ‘The Duchy’ pays homage to the time of the duchy in Düsseldorf.
With the restaurant lighting realised by mawa, the room becomes a place with literal charisma – whether for lunch after a shopping spree on the Kö or for an elegant dinner in the evening.
